We are hiring a Content Officer!

About All The Elements

All The Elements CIC is a nonprofit network for everyone creating change on diversity in the UK outdoors. We work across all diversity areas, all outdoor activities and nature, conservation and environment.

We support leaders working in the space through one-to-one calls, online and in-person events, and online resources. We also provide consultancy work to the sector.

We are currently a small team working part-time with the support of community volunteers and are starting to grow our capacity to fulfil the growing requirements of the community. We are looking for a content officer to help us create the biggest impact possible.

About the role:

Location: Remote. Potential for occasional in-person meetings / co-working depending on location, but this is not essential.

Type of role: Employed

Part time: 1.5 days per week (0.3 FTE)

Fixed Term: 1 year initial contract with potential to become permanent

Salary: £26,000pa pro rata (£8000 pa for 1.5 day per week)

Start Date: Feb 2024 or ASAP

Key responsibilities:

  • Taking a leading role in content strategy, planning and delivery on our website.

  • Commissioning content, and managing relationships and content delivery from team members, volunteers and freelancers.

  • Editing submitted content and ensuring it meets the needs and tone of our target audiences.

  • Exploring new and innovative ways to support our members and broader community through the type of content we share and the format that we share it in.

  • Updating the website and helping to integrate SEO into our website content.

  • Working with the wider team on content delivery from our events and work with our partners.

  • Supporting the sharing of our content across our social media channels and newsletter.

About you:

You are excited about telling the stories of our community groups and developing content to help them create the biggest impact possible. 

You love writing and editing, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. You enjoy helping people tell their stories in their own words and with their own style, and helping their stories and expertise shine. 

You get excited about the opportunity to develop and repurpose content in a multimedia way. You may not be an expert in capturing video, photography or audio (amazing if you are!), but you know what makes great content in these formats and would be able to commission or design for its capture.

You understand how to make content compelling in order to ensure our audiences engage in our calls to action. 

This is currently a part time position but depending on funding there is potential to increase the number of days in future.

Essential

  • You have a desire to make the outdoors more accessible to all and representative of UK society.

  • You have excellent writing, editing and communication skills.

  • You have experience commissioning and editing content from a range of different people with different backgrounds, lived experiences and skills.

  • You have experience of ensuring content is accessible and inclusive.

  • You take a proactive approach to seeking out opportunities and solving problems.

  • You have experience of working remotely and managing your own time.

  • You have experience of creating e-newsletters and editing websites.

Desirable

  • Experience working for startups and / or in small teams.

  • Lived or working experience of one or more of the underrepresented groups that we represent.

  • Knowledge of the All The Elements community and our intersectional work.

  • Experience of repurposing content to be shared in different formats.

  • Experience with video and/or audio capture and editing.

  • Experience of capturing content at events.

  • Understanding of the relationship between website and social media content.

  • Basic graphic design experience using software such as Canva.

Technical skills

We use the following software and tools. We do not expect you to have used them all before, but an ability to pick up new technology would be advantageous.

  • Substack - Newsletter

  • YouTube - Video Content

  • Canva - Design
