The Esmee Fairburn Foundation supports organisations that are making a long-term impact by changing systems. They support work that has the potential for wider influence or spread; takes a collaborative approach; and centres lived experience, justice and equity.

The Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-makers in the UK and makes grants annually towards a wide range of work including outdoor inclusion and provides funding for organisations and projects considered ‘hard to fund’. All The Elements is supported by the Esmee Fairburn Foundation.

The foundation has shared that they are committed to funding more organisations led by communities experiencing racial inequity. They are also keen to support work which addresses the causes and impacts of climate change.

They make around 200 grants a year across their 13 funding priorities, which include:

  • Space for nature

  • Racial justice

  • Gender justice

  • Migrant justice

  • Communities working together for change

  • Community driven enterprise and regeneration

You can find all 13 funding priorities here

Applicants are assessed against a range of factors including how well their organisations aligns with the foundations funding priorities, how great their impact potential is, how well they are governed and how thoughtful their approach to diversity, equity and inclusion. To be eligible, organisations must have safeguarding policies and processes in place.
