BBC Children In Need
Amount Available: £1,000 - £40,000 per year, for up to three years

The BBC Children In Need fund supports work that addresses issues and challenges affecting children and young people in the UK. Such challenges can include growing up in poverty, mental health issues, being ill or disabled, family challenges, and social injustice.
The National Deaf Children’s Society - Community Grant
Amount Available: £1,000 - £10,000

This funding is for projects that support deaf children and their families.
Each grant is for 12 months and is intended to cover the essential running costs such as:
venue hire
transport
promotional costs
wages for sessional workers, interpreters and language tutors
equipment that is essential for the project, such as play equipment or technology
The Eveson Trust
Amount Available: They usually fund on a proportionate basis relative to the size of the charity’s income - for example, if your charity’s income is £30,000 a year, they are unlikely to award you more than £5,000.

The Eveson Trust fund typically offers registered charities funding for one year. They will consider applications from charities whose work supports one or more of the following diversity areas; young people, disability, limited financial means and/or mental health. An example of how this has been used in relation to outdoor activities in previous funding rounds is The Outward Bound Trust.
Patagonia Community Grant Programme

The Patagonia Community Grant is designed to support innovative work that addresses the root causes of the environmental crisis and seeks to protect both the environment and affected communities.
They encourage work that brings underrepresented communities to the forefront of the environmental movement and confronts systemic bias, discrimination and injustice in environmental policy or outdoor spaces.
Esmee Fairbairn Foundation

Masonic Charitable Foundation Grants - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

The Sport England Movement Fund

The Movement Fund supports projects which help remove barriers to taking part in physical activity within local communities. Particularly looking to support projects which increase physical activity through supporting people to get active, stay active or increase the exercise they do.
Morrisons Foundation - Making a Difference in Local Communities

Open Fund for Individuals - Creative Scotland

The Creative Scotland Open Fund for Individuals has been created to support the wide range of activity initiated by artists, writers, producers and other creative practitioners in Scotland. It’s intended to support periods of research, development and/or delivery of creative activity, such as specific projects and productions for up to 24 months. It can support an individual’s time where this is related to specific creative outcomes.
Fat Beehive Foundation - Digital Funding for Small Charities

Pixel Grant Fund

Pixel provide grants for charities whose core focus is on the mental health and well-being of children and young adults. Their grants support specific projects that provide a measurable difference to a charity’s users. In the past this has included running therapeutic sessions and events, expanding existing mental health services to reach young people, as well as Animal-Assisted and Nature-Based sessions.

The Ernest Cook Communities Grant is an award aimed at supporting charities and non-profit organisations who encourage young people aged from 11-19 years (or up to 25 years old for Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) from underserved communities to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature.

Tesco Stronger Starts

Matthew Good Foundation - Grants for Good

Every 3 months, each John Lewis shop selects 3 organisations to support, sharing £3000 between them. This funding is designed to support work that improves local communities through the promotion of sustainable livelihoods, education, enterprise and employability.
South Downs National Park - Health and Wellbeing Travel Grants

The Health and Wellbeing Travel Grant is to go towards transport costs for community groups wanting to access specific areas of the South Downs National Park.
Henry Smith Foundation - Holiday Grants
Amount Available: £500 - £3,000 per trip

The Holiday Grants Programme offers one-off grants to take children aged 13 and under on recreational day trips or short residential trips within the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands. They prioritise groups that work with children who face financial hardship, systemic inequity or disability and favour experiential activities such as camping, adventure activities or visits to the seaside.

Women of the Sea Film Fund

This fund will provide a £10,000 grant for a filmmaker to produce a surf, or surf culture film, and is open to filmmakers who identify as a woman. The fund has a focus on celebrating and elevating women on both sides of the lens and filmmakers are invited to submit their pitch for a short film of 10-15 minutes in duration, exploring any aspect of surfing or surf culture that brings to the fore untold tales of women making waves.
The finished film must be completed by 1st October 2026 and will have its world premiere at London Surf / Film Festival 2026.

Greggs Foundation Community Action Fund
Amount Available: Up to £20,000 per year, for up to three years

Application Deadline: Friday 20th February
This fund is for organisations whose work supports people in their local area, helping them to widen their networks, reduce isolation and build confidence. The aim of the fund is to build stronger and healthier communities. An example of how this has been used in relation to outdoor activities in previous funding rounds is the Children’s Wood in Glasgow who provide free outdoor learning sessions to toddler groups and community gardening sessions. The Children’s Wood’s core team is supported by the fund providing 42% of the charity’s current annual salary bill.
Black Funding Network
Amount Available: Varies depending on crowdfunding events - details about previous amounts raised can be found here.

Registration Status: Registered and unregistered organisations. You must be a Black-led organisations (more than 50% of management/board are black heritage - African, Caribbean and Mixed heritage)

Black Funding Network provides funding to small, Black-led grassroots organisations to support work that empowers and uplifts underrepresented and marginalised communities across the UK. They support organisations focused on community development, education, social justice, equality, health, or similar areas that foster social good. Whilst they do not specifically mention connection to the outdoors they have previously supported outdoor organisations such as Black Girls Hike. You can see a full list of their beneficiaries here.
To be eligible for this fund your organisation must have an annual income of £100,000 or less.

Mayor of London - Green Roots Fund
Amount Available: £10,000 - £500,000 (at least 10% match funding required, which could include in-kind)

The Alliance for Youth Organising - Anchor Fund

This grant is for organisations that work with young people (up to age of 35) to support youth organising. Alongside directly confronting power structures, this grant can be used to support work that focuses on creating safe spaces, healing, and strengthening belonging and belief for people who face systemic injustice.
Des Rubens and Bill Wallace Grant - John Muir Trust

The Churchill Fellowship

Application Deadline: 4th November
The Churchill Fellowship is a programme created to support people with the, “passion and potential to make a real difference to their community or professional sector”. They provide funding for you to spend up to two months learning overseas or online and support you to put your findings into action.
The grant covers living costs and travel costs incurred in the learning period (4-8 weeks). It can also cover the costs of interpreters, visas and vaccinations, as well as support workers if needed.
London National Park - Ranger Project Funding
Amount Available: £250 to £1,000

Registration Status: Individuals - if you haven’t yet completed a Ranger induction with London National Park City, grants will be capped at £500.

This fund supports projects that make London greener, healthier, and more connected to nature. There is funding available to support 15 to 20 projects from November 2025 led by or involving Rangers. This fund will support a range of big or small projects, including work with a community group.

Wesleyan Foundation - Community Grant

Aldi Scottish Sport Fund

The Weir Charitable Trust

Climate Action Fund - Our Shared Future

The climate action fund is focused on involving more people in climate action, helping communities tackle climate change, and supporting people to be environmentally sustainable.
Sovereign Network Group - Thriving Communities (Strengthening Place) Grant

SNG (Sovereign Network Group) is one of the largest housing associations in England. Their Thriving Communities (Strengthening Place) grant offers funding that empowers local groups to create sustainable, inclusive communities people are proud to live in.
Co-op Local Community Fund

Green Community Grants Programme - The Wildlife Trusts

Registration Status: Registered charities and not-for-profit groups based in England, Scotland and Wales. To be eligible for this grant, your organisation needs to have been operating for a minimum of 12 months and have signed annual accounts at the time of submitting your application.

Providing small grants to help groups who experience barriers to accessing the countryside to enjoy visits to Ingleborough and the surrounding areas. Between 2022 and 2023 they awarded 18 grants to groups including: young carers, disability support groups, schools and community groups.
YHA Funding Opportunity
The YHA is excited to share that they have funding to support the costs of community walking events, supporting more people to get walking.
This funding is being provided to help community organisations put on walking events for their communities. They are able to support with the costs of YHA accommodation, transport (minibus/coach hire), and other elements of expenditure such as hiring a walking guide.

Do it Now Now is working in collaboration with Impact on Urban Health to distribute £440,000 funding in support of Black and Brown-led community organisations operating in the climate, environment and health sphere.
