This fund will provide a £10,000 grant for a filmmaker to produce a surf, or surf culture film, and is open to filmmakers who identify as a woman. The fund has a focus on celebrating and elevating women on both sides of the lens and filmmakers are invited to submit their pitch for a short film of 10-15 minutes in duration, exploring any aspect of surfing or surf culture that brings to the fore untold tales of women making waves.

The finished film must be completed by 1st October 2026 and will have its world premiere at London Surf / Film Festival 2026.

This fund is for organisations whose work supports people in their local area, helping them to widen their networks, reduce isolation and build confidence. The aim of the fund is to build stronger and healthier communities. An example of how this has been used in relation to outdoor activities in previous funding rounds is the Children’s Wood in Glasgow who provide free outdoor learning sessions to toddler groups and community gardening sessions. The Children’s Wood’s core team is supported by the fund providing 42% of the charity’s current annual salary bill.

Black Funding Network provides funding to small, Black-led grassroots organisations to support work that empowers and uplifts underrepresented and marginalised communities across the UK. They support organisations focused on community development, education, social justice, equality, health, or similar areas that foster social good. Whilst they do not specifically mention connection to the outdoors they have previously supported outdoor organisations such as Black Girls Hike. You can see a full list of their beneficiaries here.   

To be eligible for this fund your organisation must have an annual income of £100,000 or less.

The Churchill Fellowship is a programme created to support people with the, “passion and potential to make a real difference to their community or professional sector”. They provide funding for you to spend up to two months learning overseas or online and support you to put your findings into action.

The grant covers living costs and travel costs incurred in the learning period (4-8 weeks). It can also cover the costs of interpreters, visas and vaccinations, as well as support workers if needed.

This funding is being provided to help community organisations put on walking events for their communities. They are able to support with the costs of YHA accommodation, transport (minibus/coach hire), and other elements of expenditure such as hiring a walking guide.
