ESEA Outdoors UK Publishes Their First Impact Report - Community Spotlight!
Founded by Andrew Wang in 2023, and now with over 150 members, East & Southeast Asian (ESEA) Outdoors UK has quickly grown from an idea to a thriving community!
We’re thrilled to celebrate the release of their 2024 Impact Report, which not only showcases the wide range of events they’ve delivered but also captures the deep and lasting impact they’ve made across the UK.
In 2024, ESEA Outdoors UK ran 19 official events, ranging from group walks to climbing socials, fully-funded weekends away to funded festival event places. They also saw many community members hosting informal meet ups in their local area! But beyond celebrating the diverse range of events organised through ESEA Outdoors UK last year, this report demonstrates why representation is so important. Through testimonials from members, it highlights the power of having a community, creating safety and a sense of belonging in the UK outdoors.
Founder Andrew Wang has shared, “ESEA Outdoors UK started off as a question: is there anyone else that looks like me out there in the outdoors? In our first full year of existence, we have shown that we can build a community of ESEA people in the outdoors, and that our representation matters to our members and to society. Our successes reflect the commitment and passion of all of our members and volunteers, and the support of organisations who have supported or funded us. The start of 2025 has already seen numerous more activities and we have so much more in the works!” He adds, "Simply put, we couldn't have done any of this without All The Elements, The Summit and the outdoors diversity community, whose inspiring leaders directly catalysed our action and continue to support us in pushing the boundaries in diversity in the outdoors."
