About All The Elements

All The Elements CIC is a nonprofit network for everyone creating change on diversity in the UK outdoors. We work across all diversity areas, all outdoor activities and nature, conservation and environment.

We support leaders working in the space through one-to-one calls, online and in-person events, and online resources. We also provide consultancy work to the sector.

We are currently a small team working part-time with the support of community volunteers and are starting to grow our capacity to fulfil the growing requirements of the community. 

We are looking for Non-Executive Directors to support our strategic development over the coming years. Non-Executive Directors provide a creative contribution to the board by offering productive oversight and constructive challenge to the Executive Directors. We are particularly keen to attract candidates who have skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financials, particularly developing and diversifying income streams

  • Developing membership organisations

  • Innovative governance - ensuring community needs are at the centre of our work

  • Impact and reporting

  • Other open NED roles - we don’t have a fixed idea of what our board will look like, so if you think your skills would benefit our organisation, please reach out too!


About the role:

Location: Remote. 

Type of role: Voluntary position (We will cover any travel or childcare expenses necessary for you to fulfil the role)

Part time: Approx 1 to 1.5 days per quarter

Fixed Term: Initial 3 year term with possibility of renewal

Start Date: NEDs starting from April 2024, on a rolling basis as recruited

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that we are meeting our CIC aims and objectives, in particular centring the needs of the community

  • Supporting the scaling and development of the organisation

  • Ensure that, as an organisation, we have the policies and procedures to comply with our legal obligations

  • Input into the higher level strategy and decision making of a fast-growing CIC. 


About you:

You are excited about the opportunity to provide strategic support and advice to the Executive Directors and team of All The Elements. You recognise that being a NED is an important leadership role that has specific responsibilities and legal duties, and you are willing to take time to understand these.

Essential

  • You have a desire to make the outdoors more accessible to all and representative of UK society.

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and can build relationships with a variety of people.

  • You have a positive, supportive attitude.

  • You have a flexible approach to problem solving.

  • You have an ability to prioritise the needs of the organisation.

  • You have a key skill and area of expertise that you will use to provide support to the organisation in reaching our CIC aims and objectives.

  • You feel confident that you can prioritise the needs of the community and use your voice in a board setting.

Desirable

  • You have the financial acumen and ability to offer strategic advice.

  • You understand risk management and can offer constructive challenge.

  • You have experience of leading and managing organisations.

  • Experience at board level.

  • Lived or working experience of one or more of the underrepresented groups that we represent.

  • Knowledge of the All The Elements community and our intersectional work.

  • Understanding of not-for-profit organisations such as CICs.
